Mission
SDES Information Technology will empower SDES to achieve its vision, mission and goals by combining advanced, reliable, and effective technology with diverse technical services including forecasting, consulting, research, purchasing, installation, configuration, and ongoing support for applications, clients, peripherals, and infrastructure devices for supported SDES staff.
Teams
Client Team
The SDES IT Client Team is at the fore front of customer service for SDES IT and oversees all aspects of client-side computing for supported Units within the Division. This includes an advisory role, research, quality assurance, operating system deployment, software and hardware installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades. The team also conducts training for Unit staff on productivity software.
Infrastructure Team
The Infrastructure Team primarily deals with the underlying systems of hardware and software that run many of the basic functions on the SDES domain. They enforce system configuration standards, manage servers and the network, schedule and maintain backups of all file, web, and database servers, and deploy security measures to prevent unauthorized use.
Development Team
The Development Team designs, supports, and maintains development systems on the SDES domain, in addition to offering design services to any department in SDES. The team is responsible for this site and for webmaster/design duties over all SDES sites. The Dev Team develops in a great many languages (PHP, .NET, ColdFusion) and handles all the newest web technologies (jQuery, AJAX, Flowplayer) and validation standards (XHTML 1.1, CSS3).
Special Projects Team
Our Special Projects Team covers many everyday tasks as well as acts as the Project Manager for most out-of-scope projects. The team manages Systems Center utilities and assists other teams with unique projects.

Over the past 25 years working for various organizations in and out of the state of Florida, I have encountered any number of IT departments, as have most people.
